Collection: 'Ocean to Plate' by Lisa Ridgway

ARTIST BIO

Lisa’s Seafood Series expresses her love of painting, cooking, Yamba and fresh produce. 

The Ridgway’s came to Yamba and Maclean in 1978 and Lisa joined that family 10 years later. Lisa has been painting for 12 years, studied textile design and is known for her watercolour postcard series of scenes around Yamba. 

She is an accomplished still life painter who was recently a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize and Artists of Mosman prize in Sydney. Lisa has also exhibited this year in Melbourne and Paddington.  

Food has always been an integral part of Lisa’s family life. Bringing together family and friends over a beautiful meal is what makes Lisa happiest. Lisa’s daughter Katie is an accomplished chef having worked in a number of hatted restaurants in Sydney over the last 10 years. They often collaborate, exploring fresh produce markets where Lisa finds her inspiration. 

Lisa says, ‘The Seafood Series and the colour palette encapsulates summer and the light within. As an artist I strive for honesty in the produce I paint and the comfort and joy that beautiful food can bring’.
